Sir Thomas Malory is 54 years old at the beginning of War & Roses in January of 1470. He was the only son Sir John of Winwick and Lady Alice Revel. Inherited his fathers’ lands in 1443. Knighted in the year 1440 later serving in France under Henry de Beauchamp the Earl of Warwick. Sir Thomas as a member of parliament from 1443-1449. Turned outlaw in 1450 when he along with 20 men attempted to murder Humphrey Stafford the Duke of Buckingham and his entourage on the Workshop Road in Lancashire. The Duke of Buckingham escaped the ambush with his life but twelve of his 15 man entourage were killed in the fracas.
He was held in Marshalsea prison in London from 1451-1452 before eventually bribing his goalers and escaping back to his manor at Newbold Revel. Arrested in the year 1457 and later charged with robbery and attempted rape, Sir Thomas was held in Marshalsea again until his pardon by King Edward IV in 1461.
Sir Thomas is married to Lady Elizabeth Walsh. They have one son, twenty-six year old esquire Robert who has a son of his own, three year old Nicolas. He is known to be bloodthirsty and is an outlaw.
